Abstract

Overview

In June 2017, the European Cancer and Environment Research Institute (ECERI), following a discussion with the World Health Organization (WHO), announced plans to form a new international expert group specifically designed to counter the guidelines proposed by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP). This announced was made in ECERI's Newsletter, Issue No. 6.

Findings

  • Members of the ECERI will pool their resources to compile data illustrating the effects of non-thermal Electromagnetic Fields (EMFs).
  • Concerns specifically highlighted relate to the potential linkage of environmental pollution, on account of non-thermal EMFs, to severe health issues including cancer, Alzheimer's disease, and autism.
  • Proposal for creating an international group comprising both scientists and jurists to explore whether such massive pollution could be considered an International Criminal Court (ICC) prosecutable offense.

Conclusion

The ECERI has proposed to challenge the prevalent viewpoints of ICNIRP by gathering and publishing new scientific evidence. Furthermore, they will discuss the implications of environmental pollution via non-thermal EMFs as a crime against health at the ECERI Executive Committee and General Assembly in Brussels.
