Abstract

Overview

This research examines the impact of Wi-Fi on male reproductive health and explores the potential protective effects of edible bird nest (EBN).

Purpose

The purpose of the study is to determine if EBN supplementation can counteract the adverse effects of Wi-Fi on male reproductive parameters including hormone levels, estrogen receptors, spermatogenesis, and sperm characteristics.

Methods

  • Thirty-six adult male rats were split into six groups and subjected to different conditions involving control setups, EBN supplementation, and Wi-Fi exposure.
  • Key assessments included hormone analysis, mRNA and protein expression levels, along with an evaluation of sperm quality.

Results

  • Wi-Fi exposure alone reduced several reproductive health markers such as FSH, testosterone levels, ERα mRNA, and sperm quality.
  • Supplementation with EBN effectively restored and improved these reproductive parameters in Wi-Fi exposed rats.

Conclusion

EBN has a significant protective role against the negative impacts of Wi-Fi on sperm concentration, primarily through hormonally mediated pathways. This establishes its potential therapeutic application for men affected by factors similar to Wi-Fi exposure.
