Mobile Cellular Data and Wi-Fi Use Are Not Associated with Adverse Health Effects
Abstract
Overview
As smartphones become ubiquitous, the way users connect to the Internet, primarily through mobile data and Wi-Fi, has garnered attention regarding its impact on health.
Objective
The research examines the impact of mobile cellular data and Wi-Fi usage on health, given their increasing use globally.
Materials and Methods
- Participants: Conducted at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences involving 2,796 employees, with a nearly equal gender distribution.
- Data Collection: Data was gathered on multiple variables including internet use specifics, and a comprehensive range of health issues.
Findings
A large majority (94%) of the study participants were regular internet users via mobile/Wi-Fi. A detailed usage analysis showed a mean daily usage significantly lower than the global average.
Conclusion
The study concludes there is no evidence of adverse health effects from mobile or Wi-Fi internet usage in the context of the parameters studied. However, it suggests more extensive future research to cover limitations encountered.
