RF exposure survey of children and adults: First results from Slovenia
Abstract
Overview
This study presents the initial findings from a comprehensive radiofrequency (RF) exposure survey, which is part of the larger FP-7 funded Geronimo project across five European countries. The focus is on both children and adults within Slovenia.
Methodology
- Employment of recently developed personal measurement devices known as exposure meters.
- Use of a true population-based sampling frame under a uniform measurement protocol.
Findings
Measurements included 49 children and their parents, revealing an average personal RF-EMF (electromagnetic field) exposure level of 0.26 V/m. Detailed breakdown by technology is as follows:
- Uplink: 0.11 V/m
- Downlink: 0.18 V/m
- Broadcasting: 0.15 V/m
- DECT: 0.07 V/m
- WLAN: 0.08 V/m
Conclusion
The study alerts to the continuous exposure of both children and adults to varying levels of RF-EMF, emphasizing a significant public health concern.
