Abstract

Overview:

The study undertakes a critical review of the EU's prioritization of economic benefits over health concerns in the deployment of 5G technology, highlighting significant internal conflicts and reviewing the European Union's stance as per the extensive documents and appeals submitted to it.

Findings:

  • The 5G Appeal and the EU's replies, including a cover letter sent in September 2021, requesting stricter guidelines for radiofrequency radiation (RFR) exposures, are discussed in detail.
  • It is noted that the EU relies on guidelines from the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), which only consider heating effects and disregard other health-relevant biological effects from RFR.
  • Evidence from various studies suggests that biologically significant effects occur at levels well below those currently deemed safe by ICNIRP, raising concerns over cellular damage, impact on wildlife, and broader environmental effects.

Conclusion:

The evidence indicates a pressing need for the EU to revise its guidelines, reflecting the modern understanding that RFR can cause biological changes potentially harmful to health, and to place a moratorium on 5G deployment. Moreover, the upcoming rollout of 6G amplifies these concerns, urging reconsideration of current policies in favor of health-centered approaches.
