Abstract

Abstract Summary: Biological Effects of LED Wavelengths

Overview

The testament of the increasing use of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) in both domestic and public areas, as well as in medical applications, has necessitated a comprehensive review of its potential biological impacts on human tissues.

Objective

With the growing human exposure to LED lighting, this review aims to aggregate research assessing the biological effects provoked by various LED light protocols across numerous studies.

Material and Method

  • Conducted a systematic search through major databases to gather relevant data from both in vitro and in vivo studies.

Findings

Although the majority of published research presents positive outcomes, some studies have highlighted adverse biological effects of LED light technology on human cells and tissues.

Conclusion

Understanding these biological impacts is essential for evaluating the risks entailed in the use of LED technologies and for guiding safe usage.
