Abstract

Overview

The electromagnetic characteristics of many environments have changed notably over recent decades predominantly due to the increased use and presence of devices emitting electromagnetic radiation and materials capable of gaining excess charge.

Findings

  • Impact of Electric Fields: Electric fields can increase localized deposition of pathogens, leading to higher infection risks.
  • Charge Effects: High charge of either polarity intensifies the deposition of contaminants.
  • Humidity Control: Maintaining relative humidity levels between 40-60% can diminish the likelihood of infection.
  • Material Specifications: Proper specification of materials mitigates infection risks.

Conclusion

It is concluded that enhanced electromagnetic hygiene measures, such as optimized humidity levels and careful selection of materials, can significantly decrease health risks associated with airborne pathogens and particulate matter. Adoption of these improved measures is recommended within clinical practice guidelines and water, sanitation, and hygiene programs to enhance public health and safety and to protect medical and electronic devices from damage and data compromise.
