Nordic Appeal: More Stringent Regulatory Framework on Microwave Radiation from Wireless Technologies is Needed - Stop Further Rollout of 5G
Abstract
Overview
In recent years, exposure to pulsed radiofrequency (RF) or microwave radiation from wireless technologies has significantly increased, primarily driven by the rollout of 5G technology. The implementation of this technology in homes, often without the residents' consent, has raised significant health concerns due to the lack of conclusive research proving its safety.
Findings
- Early studies show that 5G base stations can cause adverse health effects in humans.
- Experiments suggest that radiation similar to 5G can cause brain damage in animals, potentially leading to Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases.
- Current guidelines for permissible radiation levels are outdated and only protect against extreme exposure that causes immediate warming of the body. These guidelines fail to protect against lower-level exposures commonly experienced daily that can lead to serious health issues such as cancer, DNA damage, oxidative stress, and neurological effects.
Conclusion
The inadequacy of ICNIRP guidelines, which only consider thermal effects of RF radiation, is evident as they ignore the serious biological impacts of non-thermal RF radiation exposure. A new regulatory framework that considers the complex, long-term effects of RF radiation is urgently required to protect human rights and health.
