Abstract

Overview

Radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation (RF-EMR) from cell phones and other sources can significantly impact biological health. This study reviews how RF-EMR affects mammalian sperm DNA integrity, highlighting conflicting results from different studies.

Findings

  • RF-EMR affects various sperm parameters such as motility, morphology, viability, and DNA structure.
  • Exposure causes oxidative stress, leading to DNA damage, which could result in fragmentation and apoptosis of sperm.
  • Conflicting studies suggest variations in results could be due to differences in study conditions such as exposure duration and distance.

Conclusion

Oxidative damage induced by RF-EMR can impair fertility and increase the risk of infertility. Reducing exposure and safe device handling are recommended to mitigate risks.
