1 Opening: why the Royal Society
Madam President, Fellows, Ladies and Gentlemen,
In this room 160 years ago James Clerk Maxwell unified light, electricity and magnetism.
Exactly 140 years ago Heinrich Hertz proved Maxwell right—with kilovolt spark‐gaps that hummed day and night in Karlsruhe.
Tonight I ask this Society to acknowledge that those same experiments launched an unintended planetary experiment: we have flooded the narrow electrical cavity between Earth’s surface and ionosphere with man-made radio-frequency fields—entropic waste that corrodes the bioelectric code on which all complex life depends.
2 The Goldilocks cavity we inherited

Earth and ionosphere form a resonator; its fundamental Schumann mode near 8 hertz has paced circadian clocks for as long as brains have existed.

Today infant mortality has collapsed—an achievement we should celebrate—but one child in thirty-six has autism, one in ten has ADHD, one in four lives with chronic disease, and global sperm counts have halved in 40 years.

Modern medicine conquered infection; we have simultaneously engineered a new class of electrical pollution that strikes the genome’s operating system.
With current knowledge and sanitation, children born today should be on track for biblical longevity. Instead we debate why so many never learn to speak.
6 Factual certainty vs regulatory inaction

7 A corrective roadmap (doable without technological retreat)

Re-empower local control over antenna siting; health must again be a valid objection.

Require chronic RF biology before each new spectrum allocation— modeled on pharmaceutical pre-market testing.

Adopt photonic networking (Li-Fi) indoors; it delivers data without microwave fog.

Migrate high-power transmitters off-planet—satellite links prove it works.

Establish a global bioelectric census: real-time mapping of RF fields, oxidative biomarkers, fertility indices, and neuro-developmental trends.
These steps do not ban communication; they civilise it.
8 Closing appeal
Maxwell’s mathematics is flawless; our world-scale application is reckless.
The Royal Society—home of Boyle’s Air-Pump, Newton’s Principia and Faraday’s lectures—has repeatedly led course corrections when evidence eclipsed habit.
I ask this Society to declare the electromagnetic cavity a shared ecological resource and to recommend immediate precaution.
If we act now, the next century’s children may indeed approach the lifespans envisioned by scripture—not by miracle, but by physics placed back in service of biology.
Madam President, Fellows—let us correct a 140-year detour and, in doing so, restore the promise Maxwell first revealed.
