Radiofrequency radiation from nearby base stations gives high levels in an apartment in Stockholm, Sweden: A case report
Abstract
Abstract Summary
Overview
Recent research categorizes radiofrequency (RF) radiation as a potential human carcinogen (Group 2B) and presents increasing evidence of its cancer risks.
Findings
- In the study conducted in Stockholm, 74,531 RF radiation measurements were recorded over approximately 83 hours in an apartment near mobile phone base stations, showing high levels of exposure, especially on balconies and bedrooms.
- The average RF radiation level across the entire apartment was measured at 3,811 µW/m2 with notable peaks up to 112,318 µW/m2.
- RF radiation levels dropped by 98% when disregarding the down-links from 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations.
Conclusion
Due to high levels of RF radiation, which poses significant health risks, the apartment is deemed unsuitable for long-term occupancy, especially for children who are at greater risk. Turning off and dismantling the base stations near residential areas are among the recommended precautions.
