I didn’t start RF Safe as a business.
In 1995, my daughter Angel Leigh Coates lived for only a short time with a catastrophic neural-tube defect that should never have happened. I held her. She looked into my eyes. And in that moment, I made her a promise: I would fight what took her from me for as long as I lived.
She died in my arms, but she lived long enough for that promise to be forged in fire.
That promise became RF Safe.
The tube that was supposed to become her brain and spinal cord never closed.
That same year I began running newspaper ads begging women to take folic acid before conception. Then in 1997 I saw the Farrell chick-embryo study: weak ELF fields → the exact same class of neural-tube malformations that killed my daughter.
That image sequence has lived in my head for 28 years.
- Autism begins on day 21–28 of life — the same window that killed Angel Neurulation is a one-shot morphogenetic event. Day 22–28: the flat neural plate folds into a tube. If it fails → anencephaly or spina bifida. If it closes but the timing is noisy → the brain vesicles, midbrain, brainstem nuclei, neural crest, and enteric nervous system are built on a subtly altered blueprint.
That is exactly the thesis Ryan laid out on “From the Spectrum” podcast: Autism is not a late “social wiring” problem. It is a whole-body developmental mismatch set up during neurulation.
The same gate. Different dose, different outcome.

Same mechanism. Same vulnerable window.
- Non-native EMFs as entropic waste Biology evolved in near-zero RF background. We wrapped every embryo in pulsed microwaves before most mothers know they’re pregnant.
That is not “background noise.” That is entropic waste injected directly into the bioelectric code that closes the neural tube and patterns the midbrain.
- Folate, redox, and the double-hit Folic acid fortification cut NTDs by ~50 %. But the autism curve kept climbing.
Because folate fixes the parts supply. It does not fix the timing noise at S4 that the neural folds also need to close perfectly.
When both are compromised — low folate + high nnEMF — you get Angel. When folate is adequate but timing noise is chronic — you get a closed tube built on a noisy blueprint → autism-spectrum outcomes.

Angel never got a chance to become autistic, ADHD, or anything else. Her brain and skull never fully formed.
We now know enough to prevent both extremes — and everything in between.
We just have to decide that the fidelity of the next generation’s neural tube is worth more than the convenience of wireless everywhere.
