Abstract

Overview

Increasing concern is evident regarding the potential health risks associated with environmental electromagnetic radiation (EMR), such as those from personal computers, cellular phones, and other sources like cellular towers and high-voltage power lines. Such exposure may lead to a hyperoxidative status by generating free radicals.

Methods

  • A study was conducted with 20 healthy subjects who frequently used cellular phones and were regularly exposed to typical environmental EMF. Subjects were tested before and after using one of three different nanoparticle-based protective devices.
  • Blood samples were collected at the beginning of the study and one month after continuous device use to analyze redox and inflammatory status.

Findings

The experimental results showed significant decreases in plasma levels of lipid peroxidation, nitrites, and interferon-γ 30 days following the use of the devices. Additionally, a reduction in the disulfide glutathione/glutathione ratio was observed, indicating diminished intracellular oxidative damage.

Conclusion

This research provides initial evidence supporting the effectiveness of nanoparticles in devices designed to protect against the detrimental health effects of EMF. The devices containing nonmetallic and metallic nanoparticles appear capable of neutralizing harmful radiation before it impacts the body, thus potentially serving as a practical safeguard against EMF-induced health risks.
