Abstract

Overview

The study explores the impact of mobile phone call duration on autonomic balance, measured through heart rate variability (HRV), among 30 healthy adults who have been using mobile phones for over five years.

Methodology

  • Participants: 30 subjects aged 18 to 30 years, free from systemic diseases.
  • HRV Recordings: Analyzed using a three-channel physiograph and LabChart software. Parameters such as SDNN, RMSSD, pRR50, and mean heart rate were assessed.
  • Measurement Phases: Baseline, during phone use, and post-phone use.

Findings

Significant changes were observed in the pRR50 during the assessment phases, indicating potential impacts on autonomic balance, possibly from mobile phone usage and its associated electromagnetic fields.

Conclusion

While the study found minor variations in HRV parameters, it highlights the need for further scrutiny concerning mobile phone electromagnetic exposure and its effects on human physiology.
