The toxic effect of mobile phone radiation on rabbit organs
Abstract
Overview
The research paper investigates the potential hazards of electromagnetic radiation (EMR) from mobile phones on health, using rabbits as a model.
Methodology
Rabbits were exposed to mobile phone radiation with sub-thermal Specific Absorption Rates (SAR) of 1.0 and 0.7 W/kg for the head and body respectively, across a duration of 16 weeks with exposures of 6 hours per day for 6 days a week.
Findings
- No apparent changes were observed at a general organ level.
- Significant increases in inflammatory cell infiltration was noted in the liver and lungs.
- Lesser degrees of myocardial cell cytoplasmic vacuolation were observed.
- Indications of DNA damage in the brain were also noted through γ-H2AX staining.
Conclusion
The study suggests that mobile phone radiation might be more hazardous to the liver and lungs, and comparatively less toxic to the brain and heart. These findings indicate a potential health risk, underscoring the need for further research on the effects of mobile phone radiation on human health.
