Prevalence of Migraine Disease in Electrohypersensitive Patients
Abstract
Overview
The primary aim of this study was to ascertain the frequency of migraine disease in individuals identified as electrohypersensitive (EHS) via the use of a validated screening tool known as the extended French version of the ID Migraine questionnaire.
Methodology
- Patients were defined based on criteria from the World Health Organization and reached through EHS patient support networks.
- Data was collected using a self-administered questionnaire that included both clinical aspects and migraine screening.
Findings
- A significant 65% of the surveyed patients were diagnosed with a migraine variant correlating with their EHS.
- Associated symptoms included nausea/vomiting, photophobia, and visual disturbances.
- Migraineurs reported more severe disturbances across a variety of symptoms compared to non-migraineurs.
- Nearly 88% of migraineurs faced disruptions in their social interactions due to symptom severity.
Conclusion
The evidence suggests a strong correlation between EHS patients and specific types of migraine symptoms, enhancing the need for tailored management approaches for these individuals based on existing migraine treatment guidelines.
