Abstract

Overview

The safety of electromagnetic radiation from 5G base stations is of high concern due to rapid technological advancements. This study focuses on the propagation characteristics of electromagnetic radiation in 5G networks, specifically examining co-constructed and shared 5G base stations by China Telecom and China Unicom.

Findings

  • Analysis of 5G mMIMO beam-forming radiation propagation.
  • Real-time in-situ monitoring of low-frequency 5G(Sub 6G) base stations.
  • Comparison of electromagnetic radiation levels against both international and China's stringent 5G radiation standards.

Conclusion

Despite the high power and frequency of 5G networks, the study finds that electromagnetic radiation levels are well below both China's national and international standards under extreme usage scenarios. These findings suggest that the current stringent standards in China, which are significantly stricter than international standards, are highly effective in maintaining safe levels of electromagnetic radiation exposure.
