Abstract

Overview

Newer iPhone models equipped with MagSafe technology, specifically the iPhone 12 and 13, have been identified as potential sources of electromagnetic interference. This interference affects medical devices, specifically the Inspire upper airway stimulator.

Findings

  • The Inspire device is utilized as a surgical implant to aid in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.
  • Interaction between MagSafe equipped iPhones and the Inspire device can pose significant health risks by disrupting the functionality of this essential implant.

Conclusion

Patients with the Inspire implant should exercise caution when using or being near iPhone 12 or 13 models equipped with MagSafe technology to avoid possible health implications.
