Abstract

Overview

Protection against electromagnetic fields (EMFs) generated by high-voltage transmission lines is crucial, particularly near buildings. The fields can adversely affect both humans and electronic devices, highlighting the need for effective shielding methods.

Findings

  • The study explores the use of highly permeable magnetic sheets for shielding against EMFs.
  • A procedure grounded in finite element analysis (FEA) was developed to design passive shielding effectively.

Conclusion

The study confirmed that the implemented FEA tool is reliable for designing shielding solutions. This is evidenced by the good agreement between the simulation results and laboratory measurements. Such strategies are essential to enhance the safety of humans and equipment against harmful EMFs.
