A novel mobile phone antenna for effectively reducing specific absorption rate
Abstract
Overview
In this paper, a novel mobile phone antenna is proposed to reduce the harmful effects of electromagnetic radiation on the human body. The study focuses on an inverted F-shaped antenna (IFA) designed specifically to lower the specific absorption rate (SAR) during phone usage.
Findings
- The design shows excellent electrical characteristics like reflection coefficient coverage from 700-870 MHz and 1710-2450 MHz.
- The antenna has demonstrated a low SAR value (< 1.4 W/kg), showcasing a significant reduction in human exposure to harmful radiation.
- Measured results include total radiation power (TRP >17.5 dBm), which are key indicators of the antenna's efficiency.
- Additional features include stable TRP (17.5-19.4 dBm), with the potential to introduce a new frequency band (LTE band 30) which aids in dispersing current peak for even lower SAR values (0.4-1.38 W/kg).
Conclusion
The antenna's compact structure, low cost, and good stability make it an excellent candidate for future mobile phone applications aimed at reducing SAR, thus mitigating the long-term health risks associated with electromagnetic radiation exposure.
