Abstract

Overview

The increasing prevalence of external magnetic fields due to electronic devices poses important questions about their effects on biological systems.

Findings

  • Digital Holographic Microscopy (DHM) was employed to track 3D movements and sedimentation patterns of red blood cells (RBCs) in veins subjected to external magnetic fields.
  • The study shows that the magnetic fields enhance the sedimentation rate of RBCs especially when close to walls, theorized to be influenced by magnetic-sensitive components within the cells.

Conclusion

This research indicates the significant impact of external magnetic fields on the behavior of biological cells, which could lay a foundation for further biological and medical studies.
