electronic bugging equipment is the most widely used device in modern bugging
technology. It is their common feature that they send the sign recorded by the
concealed microphone through a miniature high-frequency transmitter to a
person outside. It is very difficult to locate a modern bugging device due to
the frequency-hopping system they use. By applying the shielding technology we
have, any hall or room may be turned into a „ Faraday cage „
which lets through no electromagnetic rf radiation, either in or out,
thus making bugging impossible. This method has been used successfully at the
US Embassy in Moscow. The tapping or bugging of computers and other networks
has been spreading all over the world. It is usually the electromagnetic
radiation of screens that is used for this purpose, from which the picture
appearing on the screen is reconstructed. A new techniques of tapping
computers is based on a similar principle. The radiation from unshielded
cables is received and then transmitted with suitable radio-frequency
equipment. This problem can be solved by covering the cables with wire
shielding tapes and using ferrites.
