Results of a new study find that using a cell phone can be more dangerous to your health than smoking, and can significantly increase your risk of developing brain cancer.
According to the study, radiation omitted from the phone during use is what is so bad for your health and according to Vini Khurana, one of Britains’ top neurosurgeons using mobile phones for more than 10 years can effectively double your risk of developing the cancer.
His assessment was based on the fact that on a global scale, more than 3 billion people are now using cell phones, a number 3 times that of the estimated number of smokers.
For his study, he reviewed more than 100 studies of people and cell phone use and concludes that we should try to use them only when needed.
According to the study: “There is a growing and statistically significant body of evidence reporting that brain tumours such as vestibular schwannoma (acoustic neuroma) and astrocytoma are associated with ‘heavy’ and ‘prolonged’ mobile phone use, particularly on the same side as the ‘preferred ear’ for telephonya.
“It is anticipated that this danger has far broader public health ramifications than asbestos and smoking, and directly concerns all of us, particularly the younger generation, including very young children.”
