Using a Car Antenna Kit transmits the RF radiation outside the car and away from you. Please note that glass mounted antenna kits cannot protect you from the radiation because the RF radiation can come through the window glass and back into the car

When Driving A RF Safe Approved Shielded Headset Should "ALWAYS BE USED"
RF Safe Antennas easily control RF exposure in different metal enclosed environments.
Often you will take your cell phone into different environments, some of which - like small metal enclosed areas, will effect the operation of your cell phone. These environments can cause a cell phone to operate at its highest power output levels, plus trapped radiation can amplify EM power densities surrounding the cell phone user. This intensification of RF exposure happens because the conductive surroundings will become concentrating reflectors "Like The Cooking Cavity Of A Microwave Oven", when using a cell phone inside a metal enclosure, Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) gets trapped inside the conductive walls creating reflections of microwaves in what is scientifically called a "Faraday Effect".
As a measure to avoid excessive microwave exposure when a cell phone is used in a car or truck, an external vehicle antenna is needed. To get the most from your antenna it should be “centered” on the roof without obstructions - the roof acts as a ground plane for the magnetic mount antennas. Once the antenna is centered on the ground plane (Roof), guide the (10ft) RF cable inside the car by opening the door and choosing a path to where you will be placing your cell phone. Suggestions are running the antenna’s wire above the sun visor across to the rear view mirror, down the center of the dash to a phone holder or on the seat at arms reach. This antenna can be changed to another car in less than a minute or even taken into the office or home for added performance and safety.
If you plan to use your antenna away from your car, the antenna should be mounted on a flat metal surface such as a filing cabinet, or a metal sheet (ground plane) - about 8"x8” to 12"x12" for maximum performance. If your model cell phone is not applicable for using a vehicle antenna, we recommend placing the phone on the dashboard “Using Velcro” to center it away from any metal windshield supports with the cell phones antenna facing the front of the vehicle’s windshield as close as possible.
